All harvested timber is sent to one of our three main processing facilities. These mills are located in the beautiful Gaspé region and play significant roles in the economies and lives of the inhabitants of these communities.

Bois Marsoui G.D.S. inc. is near the village of Marsoui on the north shore of the Gaspé Peninsula. Our Bois Granval G.D.S. inc. division, located in the heart of Grande-Vallée, contributes to the magnificent surroundings of those communities. Bois Rocher Percé G.D.S. inc. is located in the beautiful village of Grande-Rivière in Gaspé region.

In addition to holding supply contracts (C.A.A.F.) for timber on Crown lands, Groupe de Scieries G.D.S. inc. purchases logs from private woodlots owners, thereby increasing the amount of available raw materials destined to our mills. All by-products generated at the three mills are targeted for sale on various markets.

The majority of lumber produced in our sawmills is transported to Matane, in the Gaspé region, for further processing at our G.D.S. Valoribois inc., which give our products added value. Many employees are responsible for the pre-selection, drying and planing of wood in this facility. Each step in the process is subject to inspections and controls in the goal of ensuring consistent quality.
The G.D.S. Valoribois inc. division is strategically located to make it easily accessible to all Groupe de Scieries G.D.S. inc. sawmills. Furthermore, the proximity of railroads and ports is an important asset with regard to product shipping. Many trucks ,also travel through the area.

Although our lumber is manufactured primarily from fir and spruce wood, our facilities also process aspen. Products supplied are mainly 2x3, 2x4 and 2x6 stud grades, 5 to 9 feet long. They are either surfaced kilned dry or green according to clients’ demand. Precision end trimming (PET) are available in all sizes and lengths. Most of our dried lumber is sold to American markets through our Promobois G.D.S. inc. division, while our green lumber is sold to Québec, Ontario, and the Atlantic provinces. Our merchandise is generally shipped by truck and rail.

Annual lumber production from the Groupe de Scieries G.D.S. inc. is approximately 140 million bd ft, all categories included.

As a member of the Québec Forest Industry Council (QFIC), we ensure that our lumber meets the standards established by the National Lumber Grades Authority (NLGA) and approved by the American Lumber Standards Board of Review (ALS) as well as the Canadian Lumber Standards Accreditation Board (CLS). At Groupe de Scieries G.D.S. inc., we work hard every day to ensure that our lumber meets these quality standards.
